Benvenuti in Terra Apuana

About me

My name is Federica, I am an environmental hiking guide and I am also a photographer by passion.

In addition to being an expert guide, I am Technical Director of a travel agency, according to current Italian regulations.

I founded “Benvenuti in Terra Apuana” (Welcome to Terra Apuana) with the intention, as a tour operator and lover of these places, of promoting excursions in the Apuan Alps.

My speciality is to offer an experiential and customised trip creating a tailor-made package according to the traveller’s tastes, but always keeping contact with the people, nature and deepest traditions of the region.

Focus of our journey: the Apuan Alps and the surrounding territories, from the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines to Versilia and the nearby Levante Riviera coast in Liguria.

I offer experiential, slow and sustainable tourism.

Not only trekking on the paths of the Apuan Alps, then, but a lot of small hidden treasures that you can only discover with those who know these places like their home.

I mainly organise group trips for Italian and foreign tourists. I speak English, French and German.

The Apuan Alps and surroundings: where they are and what to see

The Alps and the Apennines

Let's explore our wonderful mountains, starting from the peaks of the Apuan Alps to the trails of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.

The Apuan Alps are an important mountain range extending between the provinces of Lucca, Massa Carrara, La Spezia and Pisa, between Tuscany and Liguria.
Since 1985, the Apuan Alps have been part of the Apuan Alps Regional Natural Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. However, the tourist packages of 'Benvenuti in Terra Apuana' (Welcome to Terra Apuana), lead to the neighbouring National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, which is also known for its beautiful mountains and rich environments, flora and fauna
In fact, in 2015, Unesco declared the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines a MaB Reserve, to protect and enhance its incredible biodiversity.
Absolutely worth seeing and getting to know, for example, is Lunigiana, cradle and guardian of nature and traditions at the heart of three different regions.

The Apuan Alps are known for their marble, which gives them their typical brilliant white colour, but also for their soaring spires (Monte Pisanino is almost 2,000 metres above sea level), for the paths set between the rocky walls and for the fascinating underground caves, which also contain traces of Neanderthal man.

These mountains offer numerous opportunities for excursions of all kinds and for all levels of difficulty.

Villages and hills

Discovering some of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Not only mountains: I will make you discover small villages, nestled between the mountains and the sea, down towards Versilia or the Ligurian coast. This area is dotted with small rural hamlets, some of which have great charm and rich cultural and gastronomic traditions. Portesone, Barbazzano, Montermarcello, Tellaro, Pontremoli, Fivizzano, Fosdinovo and many others...
Space is also given to the cities with monuments and churches in Pisa or Lucca.

Towards the sea: from Versilia to the Ligurian Riviera

Among the comfort of Versilia and the unspoiled nature of the Ligurian Riviera.

Finally, the plain and the coast: castles and villages accompany us towards the sea. Travelling along Via Aurelia, a coastal area of great tourist and natural interest opens up, which from the most urbanised and well-equipped areas of Versilia, crossing the Apuan Riviera, climbs up to the Cinque Terre, passing through ancient maritime villages, gulfs and dream seas.
From the marble of Carrara to the enchanting sea of Portofino, there are many possibilities to discover the Apuan Riviera.
